The Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre features the J.D. McArthur Arena, a 4,300-seat multi-purpose arena in the City of Owen Sound. The facility was opened in 1983 on the east shore of Owen Sound Bay (hence its name) and replaced the city’s old downtown arena.
Known locally as the “Bayshore Arena,” it is home to the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League. The arena is dedicated to the memory of local hockey goaltending hero and Hockey Hall of Famer, Harry “Apple Cheeks” Lumley.
This is one of two City of Owen Sound facilities with indoor ice. The second facility in Owen Sound, the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre is a twin pad facility.
